South Kensington Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by South Kensington Removals in recognition of our responsibility to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation in our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in all business dealings, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard workers and uphold human rights.
Our Zero-Tolerance Approach
South Kensington Removals has a strict zero-tolerance policy towards modern slavery and human trafficking. We do not tolerate any form of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, servitude, child labour or exploitation within our own operations or those of our business partners. All staff, contractors and suppliers are expected to uphold this stance and to comply with all relevant legislation and internal policies relating to labour standards and human rights.
Our zero-tolerance commitment is communicated clearly during staff induction and reinforced through ongoing training, management briefings and internal communications. Any breach of this policy is treated as a serious disciplinary matter and may result in termination of employment or commercial relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
South Kensington Removals provides residential and commercial removals and related services. Our key supply chains include vehicle hire and maintenance, fuel providers, packaging and materials suppliers, storage facilities, cleaning services and subcontracted labour for removals support. We recognise that some of these areas, particularly subcontracted labour and certain material supply chains, can carry higher risks of labour exploitation. We therefore prioritise robust due diligence and monitoring in these higher risk categories.
Supplier Due Diligence and Audits
We are committed to working only with suppliers and contractors who share our values and comply with our standards on modern slavery and human rights. As part of our supplier onboarding and ongoing management, we carry out proportionate due diligence checks to identify, assess and mitigate potential risks.
Our approach includes seeking information from suppliers about their labour practices, recruitment methods, use of subcontractors and compliance with modern slavery and employment legislation. Where appropriate, we request formal confirmations of compliance with our zero-tolerance policy and require that similar standards are cascaded through the supplier's own supply chains.
We reserve the right to conduct audits of selected suppliers, which may include site visits, document reviews and worker interviews where feasible and appropriate. If a supplier is unable or unwilling to meet our standards, or if there is evidence of non-compliance, we will work with them to implement corrective actions within defined timeframes. Persistent or serious non-compliance may lead to suspension or termination of the business relationship.
Reporting Concerns and Whistleblowing Channels
We encourage all employees, agency workers, contractors, suppliers and other stakeholders to raise any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business or supply chain. Concerns can be reported to line managers, senior management or through established internal reporting channels.
Reports can be made confidentially, and individuals raising genuine concerns will be protected from victimisation or retaliation in line with our whistleblowing principles. All reports will be taken seriously, investigated promptly and, where appropriate, escalated to senior management for further action. Where necessary, we will cooperate fully with law enforcement and relevant authorities.
Training and Awareness
To support effective implementation of our zero-tolerance policy, we provide appropriate training and guidance to staff, particularly those involved in procurement, recruitment, operations management and supplier liaison. This training covers the indicators of modern slavery, how to identify potential risks and how to report concerns. We strive to build a culture where ethical behaviour, respect for human rights and vigilance against exploitation are embedded in day-to-day decision making.
Monitoring, Governance and Annual Review
Responsibility for overseeing our modern slavery commitments rests with the senior management of South Kensington Removals, who ensure that this statement and the accompanying internal policies are implemented and reviewed. We monitor the effectiveness of our measures through tracking supplier assessments, reported concerns, investigation outcomes and any corrective actions taken.
This statement is reviewed at least annually to reflect changes in our business operations, legal requirements, best practice guidance and any lessons learned from our due diligence and incident handling. We are committed to continuous improvement and will update our processes as necessary to strengthen protections against modern slavery and human trafficking throughout our organisation and supply chains.
This statement has been approved by the management of South Kensington Removals and constitutes our Modern Slavery Statement for the current financial year.
